Kayachikitsa is the first branch of Ashtanga Ayurveda that deals with General medicine, where Kaya means body and Chikitsa means treatment. Kaya also refers to Agni and entire ayurvedic therapeutics is based on the concept of Agni.

Another unique aspect of Kayachiktsa is Rasayana and Vajikarana.
Rasayana Chikitsa is useful for the promotion of health, regresses aging and it enhances the sexual vigor of a person.

Manasaroga
Manasaroga is another branch of Kayachikitsa which deals with the role of the mind in the causation and cure of diseases. Here importance is given to strict mental discipline and adherence to moral values in the branch.
