Ayurveda imparts equal importance to the disease maagement and prevention of illness. Hastened by the frenetic pace of living leading to untoward habits and illness, this branch of the science Swasthavrtta and Yoga tend to be the most relevant in this era and had been pouring its excellence in this regard over years. Long before the advent of Preventive and Social Medicine, the ancient scholars set forth the prevention and promotion of health through dietary and hygiene codes such as Dinacharya (Daily regimen) Ratricharya (Night regimen) and Ritucharya (Seasonal regimen). Yogasana pranayama for prevention and promotion of health. Rejuvenation of body and mind through Rasayana and Achara Rasayana.
FACILITIES IN THE DEPARTMENT
Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga ofKundapura Rural Ayurveda Medical college and Hospital(KRAMCH), Koteshwara, Kundapura, A unit of Amrutheshwari educational Trust ®, has conducted few programmes on account of “International Day of Yoga 2023.” Details of programmes are mentioned below.
A basic yoga training program as per Common Yoga protocol, for all 1stBAMS students had been conducted from 17th June 2022 to 20th June 2023 between 3pm to 4pm.
On 21st June, 2022inauguration for CYP program was held between 9am to 9.30am.In the program Mr Vinay Kumar Shetty, treasurer of Amrutheshwati educational trust, was the chief guest. Dr Prasanna Aithal, Principal of Kundapura Rural Ayurveda Medical College, and Hospitalpresided over the stage along with the chief guest, Vice Principal Dr Hariprasad Shettyand, Dr Ashok A Putane, Professor and HOD of Dept of Swasthavritta and Yoga.Program began with Prayer by Miss Shivanandini and team 1st year BAMS. Welcoming the guests with floral honour was done by Dr Nisha kumari, Professor and HOD of Dept of Roganidana. Program was formally inaugurated by lighting lamp by the dignitaries. Chief guest respected Mr VinaykumarShettyin his speech advised to practice yoga daily for the students. Respected Principal Dr SG Prasanna Aithal delivered presidential address. Dr Ashok A Putane, enlightened the audience about importance of International Yoga Day and benefits of yoga. Dr Hariprasad Shetty delivered vote of thanks. Inaugural program was hosted by Dr Supriya S, Associate professor, Dept of Swasthavritta and Yoga, KRAMCH. After inaugural program Mass practice of CYP was conducted from 9.35am to 10.15 am. Mass yoga practice was led by Dr Ashok A Putane at college auditorium. There was a small skit played by 1st BAMS students about “Role of Yoga in psychological and physical ill-health” from 10.20am to 10.40am. Around 110 members including staff and students participated in the event.
As a public awareness part an educational talk with Common yoga protocol was held in association with KalavaraVaradaraj M Shetty Government First Grade College, Kundapura. Program was held between 11am to 1pm atKVM Shetty Government first grade college auditorium. Dr Prasanna Aithal, Principal of KRAMCH, was the chief guest of the program. Program was Presided over by Dr Rajendra Nayak, Principal of KVM Shetty Government first grade college, along with teaching faculty. After inaugural ceremony brief talk on Yoga and its practical implication along with CYP practice session was done by Dr Supriya S from KRAMCH. Around 130 members including staff and students of KVM Shetty Government first grade college participated in the event.
