The subject explains the basic principles of Ayurveda. All the major treatises of Ayurveda are in the sanskrit language. The Charaka Samhitha , Sushrutha Samhitha , Asthanga Hrudaya  are the 3 Bruhtrayis or the major texts of Ayurveda. The Laghutrayis or minor treatises are Sharangdhara Samhitha , Madhava Nidana and Bhavaprakasha . These texts documents the science  which till then were preserved in oral tradition alone.  All through the years of study each section of these texts are taught in detail and its relevance to todays times is specified. In this Department we learn about Padartha Vijana , which elaborates on Indian philosophy is incorporated in this subject for understanding Moulika Siddhanta   

Sanskrit Language Learning Programme

“Sanskrit Language Learning Programme” was inaugurated on 10/03/2023 for 1st Professional BAMS students. The event was presided by Dr.S.G.Prasanna Aithal, Head of the Institution. Dr.Savitha Bhat K, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Nagaraj Shetty, Financial Officer of the Institution, Dr.Pranesh Varna, Sanskrit Lecturer, Dr.Nisha kumari, HOD of Roganidana Department, Dr.Uma Varna, R.M.O were also present at the event. Dr. S.G. Prasanna Aithal spoke about the importance of Ayurveda education in the present era.

Dr.Uma Varna spoke about the Speciality of the Ancient language Sanskrit. The Master of Ceremony was Dr.Shrikanth Acharya. The Welcome address was given by Dr.Raghavendra and Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr.Parikshith Navda.
